The castle, which can be seen from a great distance, is the landmark in Wolkenburg. It was built as a fortress at the end of the 12th century and was converted into a Renaissance-style castle with extensive grounds in about 1700. Visitors can now view the restored Neo-Classical banquet hall, the library with its unique building style and temporary exhibitions there. Lauchhammer iron art castings can be enjoyed in the castle and the picturesque park.
