Special exhibition in the festive year 2022
When the Saxon Elector Augustusburg had Augustusburg Castle built on Schellenberg from 1568 to 1572, the square “high above” was chosen as a symbol of power. The radiance of the monumental hunting and pleasure castle remains unbroken.
On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the castle in 2022, you will have the opportunity to travel back in time to the Renaissance! The special exhibition “Kurfürst mit Fernblick” looks back on the life of the father of Saxony, Augustus of Saxony and shows unique and precious exhibits from the history of Saxony and its culture. The highlight is the 360-degree projection in the historic Great Hall, where you suddenly find yourself at a feast in the 16th century.
