Our House
The chronicle of the country inn dates back to the year 1725. The citizen and master soap maker Christian Barth from Glauchau received a building plot for the payment of an annual hereditary rent of 2 thalers and 6 groschen. He had the "Erbschenkengut" (the later inn Voigtlaide) built there. In 1734, Barth passed away, and the Erbschänkengut was sold by his heirs. In 1903, the old Erbschänkengut burned down. The then owner, Bruno Steinert, immediately had the inn with a dance hall rebuilt, with its consecration taking place on Kirmessonntag 1903. Due to its charming location by the Rümpfwald, Voigtlaide became a popular excursion destination already at the turn of the century. The large garden offered many opportunities for children to play. When Friedrich Werner became the owner of this inn in 1905, he renamed the building to "Erbschänke." This name remained for many years until it was later only referred to as the inn "Voigtlaide." Although the ownership changed several times in the following years, the inn has lost none of its popularity.
After the Wende (German reunification), the country inn was completely reconstructed and received a completely new interior. The hotel and restaurant operations were resumed as early as 1992.
In 1998, the Piegholdt family took over the Voigtlaide country inn, and since May 2014, Marcel Piegholdt has been operating this beautiful house.
The venerable building is located on the outskirts of the city of Glauchau, exactly between Meerane, Zwickau, and Hohenstein-Ernstthal. The location is ideal for excursions to Leipzig (80 km), to Dresden (100 km), or simply to the Erzgebirge (15 km).
The 11 rustically furnished rooms with standardized living comfort allow vacationers and business travelers to end their day in a pleasant atmosphere. The inn offers overnight accommodations ranging from single rooms to 4-bed rooms, suitable for both solo travelers and families.
For celebrations, there is a club room for up to 20 people, a restaurant for up to 55 people, and a large hall for up to 200 people, which also has a beautiful cellar bar associated with it. The rooms are, of course, also suitable for conferences.
The team holds the best from the kitchen and cellar ready to pamper guests with German country cuisine and international specialties (menu). In the summer, the more than 100-year-old chestnuts in the large beer garden invite you to linger. Here, barbecue evenings or other celebrations are held.
