Between crisp climbs and wide views, you roll through the rugged beauty of the low mountain range. The route offers a sporty challenge with 1000 years of city history, castle whispers, and village ambiance.
The 1074-kilometer-long Mittelland Route follows the German low mountain range and runs across Germany – also making stops in CHEMNITZ. ZWICKAU. REGION. Starting in Euba, the cycling route rolls along field paths and nature into the center of Chemnitz. Along the namesake river Chemnitz and accompanied by the Kappelbach, the path leads into the Rabensteiner Forest. There, the Deadstone offers a place to rest: at the Maria-Josepha Tower you can enjoy the quiet forest nature and the view from the observation tower. The cycling route continues westward – right through a small forest area to the Oberwald reservoir. Ideal for a short break, a picnic or a plunge into the cold water. Following the route further to Glauchau, the castle complex with its old castle and baroque splendor impressively shows how stone tells history. Crimmitschau is the next stop on the tour, where a relaxed break at the Sahnpark with gondola pond can be taken, or the town can be explored otherwise. Through further small villages, the end of the tour in Posterstein comes into view: there waits the panorama of Castle Posterstein. A view that feels like a trophy. And those interested can dive deep into regional stories at the Posterstein Museum. Afterwards, the route leaves CHEMNITZ. ZWICKAU. REGION and continues into Thuringia. And if you want more, you can also extend the tour eastwards towards Dresden.
