The Lutherweg through Crimmitschau connects nature, history, and city life in a varied way.
The route begins idyllically in the rural district of Lauenhain. Past the picturesque Lauenhain church, the path leads through quiet wooded areas and across wide fields before a first beautiful view of Crimmitschau opens up in Zöffelpark – a small nature paradise on the outskirts of the city.
From here, it continues towards the city center. Along the way, you will encounter the historic Crimmitschau station, currently undergoing extensive renovation, before you reach the town center with market, town hall, and theater.
The tour then leads through the green park at Bismarckhain over Zeitzer Straße into the extensive Sahnpark, the city's largest recreational area. Here, a detour to the artificial ice stadium, home to the Eispiraten Crimmitschau, as well as to the cozy forester's house with dining options, is worthwhile. Directly opposite, the idyllic gondola pond invites you to a boat ride during the summer months. The Sahnbad, which boasts the largest water surface in western Saxony, is also directly on the route and offers refreshing swimming fun from the end of May to the end of August.
At the edge of the park, the Lutherweg continues towards Leipziger Straße, past the impressive Gebr. Pfau cloth factory – an important monument of Crimmitschau's industrial history. After a short stretch through Damm and Uferstraße, you reach the district of Frankenhausen. Along the Hofteich, you finally reach the historic Frankenhausen monastery, whose history dates back to 1292.
After a last stretch along Mittelmühlstraße, the route ends at the border with Ponitz – and thus at the state border with Thuringia.
