The Tetzner Museum, a lavish permanent exhibition of works by the Gersdorf painter and graphic artist Heinz Tetzner (1920-2007) was opened in August 2001. An Expressionist and follower of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Tetzner was awarded the 1st class Federal Cross of Merit and is well-known far beyond the borders of Saxony and Germany. His works have already been exhibited in New York, Chicago, Munich and Berlin. A cross-section of his works are now on display in the former mill wing of the restored farm buildings grouped around a courtyard known as "Hessenmühle". These works include oil paintings, water colours and drawings. The museum is the only one of its kind in Saxony.
